Arsenal beat Aston Villa 1-0
Agency: Arsenal tightened their stranglehold on the fourth spot in the Premier League with a 1-0 victory over Aston Villa at Villa Park.
Bukayo Saka netted the only goal of the game. His drilled effort from outside the box made its way through a crowd of players and beat former Arsenal shot-stopper Emiliano Martinez in the Villa goal.
Steven Gerrard’s side pushed for an equalizer in the second half and went close went Ollie Watkins’ deflected effort struck the post.
It was a nervy closing 10 minutes for the Gunners. Danny Ings sees his header drop onto the roof of the net.
Philippe Coutinho’s free-kick was brilliantly kept out by stand-in goalkeeper Bernd Leno.
It is a great win for Mikel Arteta’s side who go into the international break four points clear of Manchester United in fifth, with a game in hand on the Red Devils.
Villa meanwhile, remain in the top half of the table despite picking up back-to-back defeats.
