Rs. 475 million budget allocation for cricket infrastructure

Kathmandu: The Ministry of Youth and Sports has allocated Rs. 47 million for eight cricket infrastructure in the coming fiscal year.

In the budget presented by the Finance Minister Janardan Sharma in the parliament on 15 May, a budget of Rs. 3.25 billion was allocated for sports.

Out of that, Rs. 876.6 million has been allocated for infrastructure construction. Of which, cricket infrastructure has received Rs 475 million.

Gautam Buddha International Cricket Stadium

The highest amount has been received by the Gautam Buddha International Cricket Stadium under construction in Bharatpur, Chitwan.

Dhurmus-Suntali Foundation:

The Dhurmus-Suntali Foundation has allocated Rs. 225 million to continue the construction of the stadium. With an estimated budget of Rs 3 billion, the foundation raised its hand after 14 percent completion of the stadium.

The rest of the work has been included in the policy and program by the federal government in coordination with the federal and state level investments.

TU Cricket Ground

Rs 100 million has been allocated for TU Cricket Ground in Kirtipur to install floodlights to make cricket playable even at night.

Phapla International Cricket Stadium and Khelgram

Rs. 10 million has been allocated for the construction of Phapla International Cricket Stadium and Khelgram in Dhangadhi, which will start construction from next fiscal year. The government on Tuesday handed over the leadership of the stadium to engineer Subash Shahi for the construction of the stadium, which is being started under the development committee model so that it can be completed within three years.

Mulpani (Lower) Cricket Ground

The government has allocated Rs. 70 million for Mulpani (Lower) Cricket Ground which is targeted to be completed this fiscal year. Construction of the ground, which started 19 years ago, has so far cost Rs 340 million.

National Women’s Cricket Academy

Rs. 30 million has been allocated for the government’s plan to build a stadium including National Women’s Cricket Academy in Kohalpur, Banke.

Rs 15 million has been allocated for Bhairahawa International Cricket Ground and Rs 20 million for construction of Pokhara Cricket Stadium.

Mahendranagar Cricket Stadium

Rs. 5 million has been allocated to complete the ground of Mahendranagar Cricket Stadium and the ground under construction including Peach and Changing Room in the coming Fiscal Year.
